WHO WE ARE
Our Story
WEGEN Systems Inc. is a BC-based company with 12+ years of experience developing a 10kW Vertical Axis Wind Turbine (VAWT) for behind-the-meter distributed wind energy production.
Clean energy comes in many forms. The more ways we have to generate our own power, the more control we have over cost, supply, and the choices we make for our communities. A diverse energy mix builds resilience, reflects our values, and moves all of us toward a future where clean, affordable power is available to everyone who needs it.

WHAT MAKES US DIFFERENT
Why choose behind-the-meter wind energy with WEGEN?
Low Cost of Energy
Designed to ensure the lowest possible Levelized Cost of Energy over the lifespan of the turbine.
Full Lifecycle Support
Designed, manufactured, shipped, installed, maintained, and fully recyclable at end of life. Clean energy from start to finish.
Omnidirectional Wind Capture
The vertical axis design captures wind from any direction — no mechanical reorientation required.
Ground-Level Service Access
All components are accessible at the base of the turbine. Safer, faster, and less expensive to maintain than tower-mounted alternatives.
Modular & Scalable
Add units as energy needs grow. Multiple turbines in series create community-scale power with built-in redundancy — if one is down, the others keep producing.
Bird Safe Design
The vertical axis and lower rotational speed make WEGEN VAWTs significantly safer for birds than conventional horizontal axis turbines.
USE CASES
WEGEN Applications
Wind energy works differently depending on where you are and how you use power. Whether you're managing a remote property, running an agricultural operation, or looking to reduce your household energy bill, the WEGEN VAWT is sized and designed to fit your situation — working alongside your existing systems to reduce costs and emissions.
Community Applications
For small towns, Indigenous communities, unincorporated areas, and shared facilities looking for cleaner, more affordable, and more reliable energy.
Of approximately 200,000 Canadians not connected to the North American electricity grid, around 70% rely on diesel for power. High fuel costs, unreliable supply chains, and the lack of local technical expertise are the primary barriers to reliable, affordable energy. The WEGEN turbine is designed to be maintained by local crews and integrated alongside existing generation systems.
WHY CHOOSE WEGEN?
✔ Less CO₂ emissions
✔ Reduced diesel costs
✔ Scale incrementally as needs grow
✔ Add built-in redundancy to outages
